About Me
I am Satish Chandra Satyarthi, from nalanda district of Bihar which is known for one of the oldest universities of the world i.e. Nalanda University. Presently, I am doing my graduation in Korean Language from JNU. My hobbies are reading literature and learning languages. I like to participate in debates, seminars and writing compititions. In my leisure time, I love to listen to music from the golden era of Hindi films. In future I want to open quality educational institutions in the villages and small cities of my home state to improve the bad condition of education there.
I dedicate this blog to the students of my centre i.e. KOREAN CENTRE of JNU. I will try to put all the events and happenings of our centre here. i will also put certain informative and interesting material for the sake of Korean language students. Happy surfing………………..
Korean Food Festival @ JNU
A Korean Food Festival was organized by the Korean Centre of SLL&CS, JNU in SL Lawns on 16th October, 2008. This was a part of ongoing Hangeul Week Celebrations of the Centre. The students of JNU including the Koreans living in JNU and outside enjoyed the lip-smacking delicacies of Korea like Kimchi, Kimbap, Phibimbap etc. An Korean Artifact & Calligraphy Exhibition was also organized between 13-15 October. On 17th October a Korean Play will be presented by the students of the centre in SSS Auditorium, JNU.
Hangeul Week Seminar 2008
The Korean Centre of SLL&CS, JNU orgainized a seminar on “India and Korea in 21st Century” on 15th October, 2008 as a part of its ongoing Hangeul Week (Korean Script Week) celebrations. The seminar was chaired by Prof. George of Japanese Centre while Mrs. Vyjyanti Raghavan delivered the welcome address. Dr. P.N.Ajita, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Pushpa Tiwari and Mr. Kaushal Kumar were present in the seminar as faculty members. Korean Centre, JNU
Korean Centre is the centre par excellence for Korean Studies, and also is only one in the country to offer both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Korean language. It offers following courses:-
B.A.(Hons) in Korean Language, Literature & Culture Studies: The students are first imparted basic skills in listening, speaking, reading & writing in Korean Language. They are first introduced to the Hangul script and then slowly graduate to Hanja or the Chinese characters used along with Hangul. The course also trains the students in conversation, composition and translation through a knowledge of specialized terminologies. The students are given intensive training in the Oral skills with the help of State-of the-art audio-visual aids. Along with the language the students also study the History Geography and Culture of Korea.
M.A. in Korean: This programme aims to impart general and overall understanding of Korean linguistics like morphology, syntax semantics, honorific usage etc. Students are also introduced first to the History of Korean literature and then to some typical literary text like poetry, short stories, novels, essays and plays. The students also acquire specialized knowledge in interpretation and translation and also study and analyze the Contemporary issues affecting Korea.
